Rosewood Is Finally Open in Downtown Gilbert

 

If you’ve been following this one for a while, you probably remember when this space was supposed to become Aftermath.

That plan eventually changed, and now something completely new has arrived in Downtown Gilbert.

Rosewood is officially open.

Located in the former Lo-Lo’s Chicken & Waffles space, Rosewood comes from the same restaurant group behind Aftermath and Born & Bred. But instead of simply bringing another existing concept to Gilbert, the team created something specifically for this location.

And honestly, I like that.

A New Concept for Downtown Gilbert

Charles Barber Jr. has talked about wanting to bring a restaurant to Downtown Gilbert for years, and Rosewood feels like an opportunity to create something a little different from the group's other restaurants.

The atmosphere is more upscale-casual, with a menu and setting that feel especially suited for dinner, cocktails, date nights, and a night out with friends.

It's also the kind of restaurant that gives people another reason to stick around Downtown Gilbert after dinner.

What's on the Menu?

The menu is probably one of the more interesting parts of Rosewood.

You'll find dishes like Gameballs made with bison, venison, and boar, lobster linguini, Beer Can't Chicken, and the Rosewood Burger.

And then there's the big one:

A 32-ounce bone-in mole ribeye priced at $180.

That's definitely not an everyday dinner for most people, but it's the kind of menu item that gets people talking.

I'm curious whether it's actually worth the price.

More Late-Night Options in Downtown Gilbert

One thing that stood out to me is the restaurant's late-night schedule.

Rosewood is open until midnight on Friday and Saturday nights.

That might not sound like a huge deal, but Downtown Gilbert has continued to evolve into a place where people aren't necessarily just going out for dinner and heading home.

More restaurants, bars, entertainment, and late-night options give people more reasons to spend an entire evening downtown.

Rosewood fits nicely into that.

Whether you're looking for a date-night restaurant, cocktails with friends, or somewhere to grab dinner before staying out a little later, this gives Downtown Gilbert another option.

When people talk about growth in Gilbert, the conversation usually centers around new homes, roads, schools, and development.

After following the project through its earlier plans as Aftermath, it's fun to finally see the space open under a completely different concept.

How's the atmosphere?

And most importantly, will Gilbert residents make Rosewood one of their regular spots?
